Question: Why didn't the UK and US Treasury issue more debt in long term bonds? It looks like the average maturity of US gov debt is ~60 months. They were able to sell 30-year bonds at a 2% interest rate just a few month ago. We'll never pay off that debt; so why not get a good rate?
